Outpatient Mental Health Assessment and Treatment

BHIS services include skill-building interventions that will assist a child with behaviors and symptoms associated with a mental health diagnosis. BHIS services are delivered in both individual and family settings. Sioux Rivers provides funding and support to Family Solutions to provide BHIS services. Sioux Rivers supports our regional hospitals by funding an evaluation and consultation provider to assist local emergency rooms when treating an individual experiencing a mental health crisis or civil court commitment. Flowstate works with the local medical provider and completes a Level of Care Comprehensive assessment to determine need based on current mental health symptoms. Flowstate also assists our medical personnel in finding placement suitable to the level of care determination. Regional Service Coordinators work closely with Flowstate and the regional hospitals to ensure follow-up care and coordination for presenting individuals.

Services are provided in an office or clinical setting on an outpatient basis utilizing Evidence-Based Therapy Practices. Outpatient services may include psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and individual, family, and group therapy. Outpatient services will provide an appropriate mental health diagnosis, treatment, and appropriate follow-up care.

Psychiatric services offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnoses and individual evidence-based psychopharmacological treatment. These services are provided within the region through Outpatient Mental Health Programs that employ psychiatrists, advanced registered nurse practitioners, and/or certified physician assistants to provide quality medication-based services.

Sioux Rivers provides funding and support to various regional outpatient mental health providers who employ Psychiatric Medication Providers. School-based mental health services are outpatient mental health/early intervention services provided to children in the school setting. These services improve access to mental health services for children and families who otherwise may not have the ability to access mental health therapy services.

Sioux Rivers provides funding and support to various regional outpatient mental health providers who are contracted to provide services to regional school districts. In addition to providing outpatient therapy services, funding is geared toward providing education and prevention trainings to the administration, faculty, and families of the school district. Not all regional schools have outpatient mental health services provided within their district. Sioux Rivers continues to work with interested schools to coordinate school-based outpatient services.
